Kids most at risk going, returning from school

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children found that children are most likely to be the victim of abduction when they are walking to and from school or school-related events.

Among the reported trends:
* 38 percent of attempted abductions occurred while a child was walking to or from school, riding a school bus or riding a bicycle.
* 37 percent occurred between 2 and 7 p.m. on a weekday.
* 43 percent involved children ages 10 through 14.
* 72 percent of attempted abduction victims were female.

NCM&EC President Ernie Allen said the findings are supported by a national incidence study conducted by the federal Justice Department several years ago that focused on successful abductions.

“As we tracked these and began to capture basic information about them, there were some clear patterns that were emerging,” he said. “And so frankly, we thought this was the kind of information that moms and dads needed to know about.”

Sacramento - Keep a close eye on your boys

A convicted sex offender is now considered no longer a sexually violent predator in the eyes of the law.

Timothy Boggs' lawyer successfully argued for an unconditional release.

That means Boggs will no longer check-in with parole agents and will no longer wear an ankle bracelet; he will be able to travel and leave the state as he pleases.

Boggs will still be listed on California's sex offender registry.

Boggs has two convictions for molesting 9-year-old boys in the Sacramento area in the 1980s.

Habitual sex offender John Albert Gardner pleaded guilty today to murdering two teenage girls in San Diego County after prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.

Gardner, 31, faces life in prison without parole for killing 14-year-old Amber Dubois and 17-year-old Chelsea King.

He also pleaded guilty to attempting to rape another woman who was jogging in San Diego last year.

None of this would have ever happened if we had a One Strike Law.

Another solid case for ONE STRIKE LAW

John Albert Gardner III received a very light sentence in 2000 after prosecutors ignored a a psychiatrist’s warning and suggestion of a stronger sentence. Prosecutors noted John Gardner’s lack of criminal history, and tossed in the standard “wanted to spare the victim the trauma of testifying” card when seeking the five year prison term for the sexual assault of a 13 year old girl.

Chelsea King, 17, beloved daughter, honor student, athlete, friend to all, has gone missing and John Gardner is behind bars. He is being charged with her rape and murder.

But now Amber Dubois, who disappeared last year on her way to school, was identified through dental records after police found her remains Saturday in rugged terrain near Pala. Police had refocused attention on the Dubois case after Gardner was arrested last week in connection with the murder of Chelsea King, a high school senior from nearby Poway.

Another woman has identified Gardner as the man who tried to attack her Dec. 27, 2009 while she was jogging in the same general vicinity where both Chelsea and Amber vanished. The woman in that attack managed to escape.

Sex Offender Suicide

The probe began last week when the 13-year-old girl darted from a couple of curious police investigators and ran for a Citico Street home.

It ended Tuesday in the same house when police found 74-year-old convicted sex offender Robert Grey Foxx dead on his couch, a plastic bag pulled snug over his head.

Police said Foxx committed suicide.

He had been arrested Dec. 21 after an investigation revealed he started two years ago paying an 11-year-old girl for oral sex at least twice a week.

Too bad the coward didn't do it BEFORE he starting molesting another child.

The body of a Maryland girl who authorities say was abducted by a registered sex offender was found Friday after thousands of volunteers fanned out to look for her.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis said that the body of 11-year-old Sarah H. Foxwell was discovered at about 4 p.m. near the Delaware state line. He offered few other details. Thomas J. Leggs Jr., 30, has been charged in her kidnapping.

Lewis said Sarah was last seen Tuesday night at her home on Maryland's Eastern Shore. A relative discovered she was missing early Wednesday while checking on Sarah and her 6-year-old sister. A charging document says Leggs was the last person seen with Sarah.

A "juvenile witness" awoke during the night Tuesday and saw Sarah leave the bedroom with "Tommy," and said he was wearing blue jeans, an orange jacket and white sneakers, the charging document says.

Leggs is listed on the Maryland and Delaware sex offender registries. The Maryland listing notes that he is a child sex offender, but does not give details about his conviction.

Lewis said Leggs has been convicted of sex offense in Wicomico County and was charged Oct. 29 with fourth-degree burglary.

In 2001, Leggs was convicted in Delaware of rape for having sex with a victim who was 16 or 17, according to the Delaware registry. The registry describes his risk level as "high" and notes he is unemployed.

Leggs, who has been convicted of assault several times, also is awaiting trial on charges of burglary and destruction of property in Ocean City

John Evander Couey, a convicted sex offender awaiting execution for kidnapping, raping and burying 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford alive, died of natural causes Wednesday.

The 2005 crime prompted many states to pass laws named for Jessica that impose restrictions on sex offenders, including registration requirements. Florida's version bans them and others convicted of serious crimes from school grounds.

Couey took Jessica from her bedroom to his nearby trailer in February 2005, triggering a massive search. The third-grader's body was found about three weeks later in a grave in Couey's yard, only about 150 yards from her home.

Her body was found under a foot of dirt wrapped in two garbage bags. She had poked holes through the bags with her fingers, although her hands were bound with wire. She was still clutching her favorite stuffed animal, a purple dolphin.

2,356 fugitive sex offenders nabbed

Among the 35,190 fugitives apprehended during Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Operating Nationally) were 2,356 fugitive sex offenders, the service said.

"This might be considered the cream of the crop for the most violent felons that are out there. For example, we arrested 433 murder suspects," said U.S. Marshals director John F. Clark at a Chicago, Illinois, news conference.

In the course of the operation, the marshals also confiscated 582 firearms and 2,400 kilograms of narcotics. "Often when we find fugitives in hiding, we have other fruits of their crimes: firearms, drugs, some other evidence of some type of criminal activity," Clark said.

Unregistered sex offenders were a major target, Clark said.

"We highlighted one [case] here in the Chicago area. It involved an individual who was alleged to have molested a 9-year-old girl. He had violated his parole, and after an investigation he was located," he said. "There's evidence of further crimes that happened since he didn't register as a sex offender. This is typical of the type of individual who is out there, somewhere on the streets of America, and is often harming

Manhunt moves to Colorado with cash reward

A nationwide manhunt for fugitive sex offender now is centered in Colorado, U.S. Marshals said today.

Robbi Potter, who is believed traveling with a 3-year-old girl and her mother, was spotted at an Ampride gas station in Stratton, on Interstate 70 about 147 miles east of Denver.

"He is a convicted sex offender — the most dangerous kind — committing sex offenses against minors," said Andrew Deserto, a chief deputy U.S. Marshal in Ohio. "We want to get the little girl and want the guy caught and put him where he belongs."

Potter, 27, is wanted on both state and federal warrants for parole violations as well as escape for walking away from a halfway house for sex offenders in Mansfield, Ohio on May 28, three days after he was released from prison.

Potter is a Tier III sex offender, Ohio's most serious designation.

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force is offering a $10,000 reward for

Haylee Donathan (U.S. Marshals Service)information leading to Robbi Potter's arrest. Anyone with information should call the toll free hotline, (866) 4WANTED. Callers may remain anonymous.

Investigators believe Potter is driving a 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck that is black and green. It may have Ohio license plates ENS9729, although news accounts report that Candace Watson has been known to switch plates on vehicles.

Jeffrey Talani, chief of police and child molester.

Back in 1988 Jeffrey Talani plead guilty to molesting two little girls, just babies of 4 and 8.

Being charged with 20 counts of rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition, child endangering and drug abuse. Talani claimed "I was coerced into pleading for something I didn't do" and "I would rather die than to hurt a child". (Gee, where have we heard THAT before?)

Talani was sentenced to 4 to 10 years on one count of sexual battery and 2 years each on three counts of sexual imposition. He was also sentenced to 6 more months for obstructing justice.

Talani (the man who would rather die that hurt a child) is up for parole. The man who these little girls trusted, the whole community trusted, could be out in just a few weeks. Do you want this man living in your neighborhood? Do you want this man around children? Your children?

I know the victims and their families don't. This is what one of the victims had to say "it has been 21 years since he has been incarcerated, the information on what happened to me is a vivid now as it was then. It never goes away."

Vermont Pass Sex Offender Bill

Vermont lawmakers gathered in Montpelier Friday to announce they had finally fulfilled a promise made after the brutal kidnapping and murder of 12-year old Brooke Bennett last summer.

The bill builds on existing state laws and includes a 25-year mandatory minimum sentence for child sex offenders, and requires schools to focus more on prevention efforts.

As happy as I am about Vermont finally passing their version of Jessica's Law, I have to think that if they would have done this months or even years ago Brooke Bennett would still be alive and with us today.

How many other states have NOT passed their own version of Jessica's Law? How many more children will have to be sacrificed before lawmakers setp up and start making sensible laws that actually punish these predators?

Sex offender waives hearing in rape case of 3-year-old

A convicted sex offender recently charged with additional sex assault cases after his DNA was examined since being imprisoned, yesterday waived his right to a preliminary hearing in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 3-year-old Wilkinsburg girl in 2002.

Police said that in April 2002 a 3-year-old girl was taken from her home in Wilkinsburg as she slept in bed with her mother. The mother woke up around 2:30 a.m. and called police.

A passer-by found the girl in Highland Park about three hours later. She was taken to Children's Hospital, where an examination showed that she had been sexually assaulted, police said.

After DNA tests had been done, Mr. Lipinski was charged with kidnapping, rape, burglary, reckless endangerment, indecent assault, corruption of a minor, and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in connection with the child's abduction.

Sex offender arrested in teen's murder

Darrin Eugene Sanford, 30, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of 13-year-old Alycia D. Nipp (pictured), a Thomas Jefferson Middle School student.

Nipp's stepfather discovered her body around 2:30 a.m. Sunday while he was out searching for her after she had been reported missing. Nipp had been stabbed multiple times and police believe her body was dragged to a wooded area and left there.

Perv dies in prison

John Kopkowski, 42, was pronounced dead at the San Diego Central Jail at about 9:34 a.m. San Diego, Cali. time Thursday, Feb. 12. According to Bethel Police Officer Shane Bininger preliminary reports indicate that Kopkowski jumped from the second level of a building at the jail while in protective custody, falling to his death.
The Bethel Police Department began investigating Kopkowski on Dec. 12 after a Bethel computer repair technician came forward with the allegation that he had found disturbing images on Kopkowski’s computer. The Bethel PD along with the Batavia Police Department executed a warrant on Kopkowski’s home in Batavia on Dec. 14. The officers confiscated two computers which contained hundreds of images containing children in various states of nudity and engaging in sexual acts.

Mandatory Sex Offender Sentences Rejected

The House Judiciary Committee has rejected a proposal that would have required mandatory jail time for sex offenders, citing the $140 million price tag the first five years.

However, the measure (House Bill 1144) remained alive Thursday when the House Judiciary Committee tied 5-5 on a vote to kill it.

The bill would require a mandatory sentence of at least 20 years and no more than 30 years for an offender who commits a sexual assault on a child 14 years or younger, or seven years younger than the offender.

Sex offender charged with beating 2-year-old to death

A Cumming man who was a convicted sex offender has been charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, police said Saturday night.

Christopher Brian Gilreath, 39, was charged with felony murder, aggravated battery and cruelty to children in connection with the death of Joshua Pinckney, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department.

Gilreath also is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and failure to register as a sex offender in Georgia. He is a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania, authorities said.

Lawmaker wants to castrate pedophiles

More than three million American children are victims of child molestation - that’s according to the Child Molestation Prevention Organization.
Almost half were violated by repeat offenders.

Now, Talladega County Representative Steve Hurst of Munford wants to surgically castrate convicted pedophiles older than 21 who’s victims are younger than twelve years old.

“You take a child who’s completely helpless. They have no way to defend themselves. And someone does something of this nature to them, you have literally destroyed that child for the rest of their life,“ says Hurst.

“If it’s an urge they can’t control… the castration certainly would take care of that problem and protect neighborhoods, communities and future victims,“ says Jefferson County Mike Hale, who supports the idea, which is now officially House Bill 252.

Hale says his deputies re-arrest at least 30% of the child molesters who are parolled.

“I think they would see this as a threat - from even committing one crime to start with. If the word got out that Alabama would castrate you if you molested a child, that would send a pretty strong message,“ says Hale.

Child Rapist Gets 60 Years In Prison

A Sioux Falls man is headed to prison for 60 years for raping a girl so young she was still wearing diapers. A judge sentenced 38-year-old Barry Thunder Thursday afternoon for one count of rape and four counts of making child porn.

Even though a jury convicted him of raping a three-year-old girl and recording the crime with a cell phone, Thunder still claimed in court Thursday he's not guilty. He's now headed to prison for six decades to think about the crime he says he didn't do.

Even though Thunder is not accepting responsibilty for the videos and the rape, the prosecution believes the community is now safer after the sentence.

While the Internet chat rooms remain a breeding ground, new video games such as X-Box Live seems to be providing a new playground for pedophiles. With X-Box, users can play games, and through a home Internet connection also communicate live with other players through headsets and instant messages.

According to Team X-Box, The FBI has investigated cases where sexual predators have used game systems such as Xbox 360 to target children.

“A pedophile is talking to a child, they are gaining their trust and understanding, and then tries to engage in that next level, which is taking them from the cyber world to the physical world,” said Douglas Roden, an FBI forensic examiner.

Several cases across the country have initiated with a pedophile meeting their victim through an on-line gaming system.

There are ways to protect your children from these Internet and gaming based predators. Most experts say the best way is to simply talk to your children about Internet safety and predators, then to carefully monitor their on-line activities for the warning signs:

LARGE AMOUNTS OF TIME ON-LINE: Most kids that are victims of sexual predators spend large amounts of time on-line, particularly in chat rooms.

PRESENCE OF PORNOGRAPHY: Pornography is often used in the sexual victimization of children. Sex offenders often supply their potential victims with pornography as a means of opening sexual discussions and for seduction. Child pornography may be used to show the child victim that sex between children and adults is "normal." Parents should be conscious of the fact that a child may hide the pornographic files on diskettes from them. This may be especially true if other family members use the computer.

UNRECOGNIZED TELEPHONE CALLS: While talking to a child victim on-line is a thrill for a computer-sex offender, it can be very cumbersome. Most want to talk to the children on the telephone. They often engage in "phone sex" with the children and often seek to set up an actual meeting for real sex.

CHILD TURNS OFF SCREEN WHEN YOU ENTER THE ROOM: A child looking at pornographic images or having sexually explicit conversations does not want you to see it on the screen.

YOUR CHILD BECOMES WIDTHDRAWN FROM THE FAMILY: Computer-sex offenders will work very hard at driving a wedge between a child and their family or at exploiting their relationship. They will accentuate any minor problems at home that the child might have. Children may also become withdrawn after sexual victimization

Ohio man gets 44 years for underwear ploy

A suburban Cincinnati man convicted of sexually touching children while claiming to be a market researcher who wanted to measure their underwear has been sentenced to 44 years in prison.

Prosecutors said the 44-year-old Hawkins targeted boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 16, and sometimes convinced parents to let him be alone with their kids.

They say he arranged to meet parents and children at schools, hospitals or their homes and told parents he needed to measure underwear for research.

Hawkins pleaded guilty in December to nine charges of importuning and three counts of gross sexual imposition.

Hamilton Man Gets Life Sentence On Sex Crime Convictions

A judge sentenced a Hamilton man to life in prison after he was convicted on child sex charges.

John Mucher pleaded guilty Dec. 22 to six counts of rape, one count of gross sexual imposition, two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, and 30 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.

Prosecutors said the 33-year-old Mucher began molesting an 8-year-old girl in 2004, and continued until last year, when the child told a friend in August.

Pedophile activists are constantly trying to invent new ways to persuade the public into considering that adult-child sexual relationships un-harmful. We've seen this is in some of the authors we've talked about during our boycott: the Tom O'Carrolls and Geoffrey Leonards. Most people are able to discern rather quickly what these people are (or rather what motivates them) shortly into reading their publications, so their audience is limited mainly to other pedophiles, but perhaps the most publicized effort comes from a woman named Judith Levine, in the form of her book "Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex."

Reading through the pages of Levines book, Judith tries to support her notion that adult-child sexual relationships aren't actually harmful by dismissing the responsibility of adults who engage in sexual relationships with children and by pointing the finger (as pedophile activists frequently do) at society instead:

When the youngster has had what she considers a relationship of love and consensual sex, it does no good to tell her she has been manipulated and victimized. "To send out the message that you've been ruined for life and this person was vile and they were pretending to care— that often does a lot of damage," commented Fred Berlin, a psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins University and a well-respected expert on treating sex offenders.

Here Levine describes peoples concerns of child sexual abuse as "irrational:"

All this rational talk may mean nothing to a parent. Nine in forty five million children are raped and murdered: slim odds, sure, but if it happens to your baby, who cares about the statistics? Still, most parents manage to put irrational fears in perspective. Why, in spite of all information to the contrary, do Americans insist on believing that pedophiles are a major peril to their children?

It's almost as though Levine doesn't think adults having sex with children is abusive unless the child is murdered. There is an estimated, 39 million of survivors of sexual abuse in America today, how is that for perspective? A far cry from the nine victims Levine makes it sound like exist. Dr. Bill Glaser an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne, describes the situation:

There are some who say that we are becoming unnecessarily panicky about child sexual abuse. The evidence is that we have not panicked enough.

If we had some sort of plague or epidemic which affected one in four girls, one in eight boys, there would be a national outcry about it and we would be setting up national coordinated efforts to deal with the problem as we have with modern day epidemics such as HIV.

Throughout "Harmful to Minors," Levine is subtle about the way she insinuates that adult-child sexual relationships aren't harmful, however when she reaches the topic of child pornography she's almost outright denies its even existence:

Aficionados and vice cops concede that practically all the sexually explicit images of children circulating cybernetically are the same stack of yellowing pages found at the back of those X-rated shops, only digitized. These pictures tend to be twenty to fifty years old, made overseas, badly re-reproduced, and for the most part pretty chaste. That may be why federal agents almost never show journalists the contraband. But when I got a peek at a stash downloaded by Don Huycke, the national program manager for child pornography at the U.S. Customs Service, in 1995, I was underwhelmed. Losing count after fifty photos, I'd put aside three that could be called pornographic: a couple of shots of adolescents masturbating and one half-dressed twelve-year-old spreading her legs in a position more like a gymnast's split than split beaver. The rest tended to be like the fifteen-year-old with a 1950s bob and an Ipana grin, sitting up straight, naked but demure, or the two towheaded six-year olds in underpants, astride their bikes.

Twenty to fifty years old, eh? I wonder whether the photos sex offender activist and director of SOhopeful, Jim Freeman, traded in his child pornography ring were "twenty to fifty years old"...

I suppose in Levines eyes, James Huskey (who was also in Freemans group and created the "TARA series") was just 'helping' his victim explore her sexuality? Starting at 5 years old he raped her on film and shared it on the internet. The girl knew he was putting it on the internet. He showed her the videos of what he did to her. The day before they arrested him he raped her anally with a 14 inch dildo. She was 9 years old.

Reaching the end of Levines book, it's interesting to note who she sourced her information from; Among the names are men like Bill Andriette, Lawrence A Stanley (the pedophile wanted for child abuse charges, who Levine described as "the most thorough researcher of child pornography"), James Kincaid, Alfred Kinsey and the NAMBLA bulletin. It all leaves little to the imagination about what direction Levine set out to take with her book, which is currently for sale on Amazon.com.

Vancleave child molester sentenced to Life

A Vancleave man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for molesting two little girls.

Friday, Randy Lamar Tapper, 47, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 75 years in prison. It took a Jackson County jury less than two hours to convict him of multiple counts of sexual battery and touching of a child for lustful purposes.

"These victims were six and eight at the time of the crimes. The file is full of other allegations of possible child victims. I told the court in sentencing, Tapper not only robbed the victims of part of their childhood but also part of their future. I think the maximum was appropriate for a person who was found guilty of sexually abusing two small girls," said District Attorney Tony Lawrence.

Testimony revealed that the children had stayed at Tapper's trailer in Vancleave in the summer of 2006. The molestation came to light after the children's mother took them for an examination at Singing River Hospital. The girls had just returned from Tapper's house and reported being molested by Tapper.

During the trial, Lawrence revealed that Tapper's two previous wives were minors when he got them pregnant. Lawrence also told the court that Tapper had another pending indictment for child molestation.

"Tapper will be in prison for the rest of his life and he will never be able to harm another child," said Lawrence.

"Justice in this case was a long time coming. It is a good day for the citizens of Jackson County. There is no telling how many children he has hurt, but thankfully he can't hurt any others," said Assistant District Attorney Angel Meyers who assisted Lawrence on the case.

Accused child rapist seeks change of venue

Lawyers are seeking a change of venue for a Springfield man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl before leaving her to die in a burning house.

Jeffrey Allen Dickson is charged with kidnapping, forcible rape and two counts of forcible sodomy in the incident on April 6. Dickson’s lawyer said heavy media coverage of the story might make it tough for Dickson to get a fair trial in Greene County.

Public defender Rod Hackathorn said at a hearing yesterday he’ll file for a change of venue within a week.

The 38-year-old Dickson is accused of abducting the girl from a home and taking her to an empty house several blocks away. There, he allegedly choked, raped and sodomized the girl before making her smoke something from a pipe.

She awoke to find the house on fire.

A 40-year-old Springfield man committed suicide in the Alexandria jail just hours before he was expected to plead guilty to filming a 15-year-old girl as he sexually abused her, an Alexandria sheriff’s spokesman said Monday.

Don Douglas, known as “Uncle Donte” to the victim and her several siblings, had convinced the girl to mix sleeping pills into her parents’ drinks so she could sneak out earlier in the evening to see him, according to documents filed in Alexandria’s U.S. District Court.

On Nov. 17 Douglas was ordered to remain in the Alexandria jail without bail because he had already fled from similar charges in Texas, U.S. District Judge Ivan D. Davis wrote in the order.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 12, jail guards conducting a routine check discovered Douglas had hanged himself in a shower, sheriff’s spokesman Harry Covert said. Douglas was pronounced dead at Inova Alexandria Hospital at 3 a.m. Jan. 12. He was expected to appear in court later that day to plead guilty to the charges, court documents said.

Repeat Offender arrested for raping 5 year old girl

Friday, police arrested 21-year-old Damon Matthew Harding of Rogers, after interviewing the 5-year-old victim. According to the Benton County Sheriff's office, Harding is already registered as a sex offender.

An admitted sex offender pleaded guilty yesterday to charges that he sneaked into the bedroom of a 5-year-old Pequannock girl and molested her on at least two occasions in 2007.

Timothy Iberer, 28, of Bloomingdale, pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Morristown to second-degree charges of sexual assault and attempted aggravated sexual assault, and two counts of third-degree burglary, in connection with the incidents that occurred in August and September of 2007.

In all, he faces up to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 27.

Too bad he isn't in Ohio - life in prison.

Child Rapist to spend 56 1/2 years in prison

After her parents were deemed unfit, a 4-year-old girl and her siblings were sent to live with their closest relatives.

But their new home was no haven. Christopher Kenney, 36, repeatedly raped the girl over a two-year period, a Franklin County jury found. His sentence was handed down Thursday: 56 1/2 years to life in prison.

Kenney, formerly of Brehl Avenue on the West Side, had been convicted in November of rape, gross sexual imposition and child pornography.

Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Tim Horton called Kenney's crimes "hideous and foul."

"You have chosen not to accept responsibility for your actions. That is, in itself, a sad case," Horton said in handing down consecutive sentences, which included at least 40 years for rape. Kenney will not be eligible for parole until he is 92.

AZ Won't Meet Sex Offender Registry Deadline

By July 1, states will have to bring their sex offender registries in line with new federal standards; Arizona will not make the deadline.

The Adam Walsh Act requires states to organize sex offenders into three categories and keep accurate data on their whereabouts, e-mail addresses and employers, among others, in order to create a national sex offender registry. States are also required to post photographs of sex offenders online.

Arizona's current registry contains basic information on the whereabouts and appearances of medium- and high-level offenders.

Manhunt For Balboa Park Child Molester

San Diego Police Child Abuse detectives are investigating the molestation of a four-year-old girl that occurred in Balboa Park on Sunday, January 25, 2009.

At about 3:00 p.m., the victim became separated from her parents and older brother while playing hide-and-seek. The victim's parents and friend started searching for the girl and contacted San Diego Fire Department personnel who were at the park. Numerous police officers and Park Rangers began searching for the missing girl.

The girl stated the suspect walked up to her near the Natural History Museum and said he would take the victim to the victim's mother. The suspect, who is described as a White male, 55, 5 foot 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, white hair, was wearing eyeglasses, a green windbreaker, tan pants, and hat, instead walked the victim to his vehicle. The molestation took place inside the suspect's vehicle. The vehicle was parked in a lot adjacent to either the Natural History Museum or Spanish Village. At this time detectives do not have a description of the suspect's vehicle.

The female victim was then released by the suspect and was not injured. The victim was located about forty-five minutes after she was initially reported missing near the Spanish Village area. A short time later, the victim disclosed she was molested.

The largest child-pornography ring in the United States is run by the Government. It is possible that without Uncle Sam, there would be no child-porn business.

Stanley espoused his pedophile propaganda in the form of a newsletter titled "Uncommon Desires," which featured nude photos of young girls and described itself as "the voice of a politically conscious girl-love underground."

Some of the pedophiles who used to read "Uncommon Desires" are still around and can be found on GirlChat, continuing the rumors first started by Stanley.

I will say again that I think it's VERY strange that the government absolutely refuses (in most cases) to let objective journalists view the material to determine if it's really as 'horrible' as we are told, if it's really as prevelant as we are told, and if the kids who appear in these vids and pics are really as young as they claim. But the police continue to refuse. Are the police known for their honesty?

Like Jeff Bezos, Stanley set-up an online bookstore "Alessandra's Smile," except that Stanleys bookstore sold exclusively pro-pedophilia and 'child erotica' books and magazines (some of which are available on Amazon.com). Stanley also started his own publishing company "Ophelia Editions," which produced photographic books under the guise of "art," but which consisted of nude photographs of little girls.

There are many books for sale on Amazon.com which were published by Lawrence Stanleys "Ophelia Editions," including one book authored by Stanley himself, under the pseudonym "L.A. Stanaman." These books were published for the sexual pleasure of pedophiles, depicting children being taken advantage of - used by a pervert who manipulates the legal system. And despite our protest, Amazon.com continues to assist in, and profit off of the exploitation of these children, selling books published by a man the pedophile community describes as:

A convicted sex offender was arrested Wednesday for moving to a new address where children were living and failing to report the move to authorities.

Springer had to register as a sex offender after a misdemeanor conviction of second-degree sexual abuse, which involves a female between ages of 12 and 16.

Victims' Advocates Praise Sex Offender Law

A new get-tough bill taking on sex offenders moves one step closer to becoming law this week.

Lawmakers are moving fast in response to public outrage over the rape and murder of 12-year-old Brooke Bennett. Her uncle Michael Jacques is accused.

The Senate Judiciary passed the new plan unanimously last week. The bill is currently in appropriations because there's money in it to fund special investigation units and prevention programs. It goes to the full Senate later this week.

And the bill is winning praise from victims' advocates.

The bill calls for program grants, funding to work with school kids and adults in communities.

After the Senate vote-- then the House needs to approve the bill. The hope is the Governor can sign it into law by Town Meeting Day in March.

child rapist commits suicide

Scottsbluff police have found the body of a Mitchell man who was set to appear in court on child sex assault charges.

Authorities had charged 53-year-old Gerald Dittbenner with dozens of counts, including two counts of forcible rape, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two pornography counts and two counts of incest.

Investigators have said Dittbenner had repeatedly assaulted the two girls over 10 years, beginning when they were 6 and 9 years old.

Police found Dittbenner’s body in his home Tuesday morning, the same day he was set to enter a plea to the charges. Scotts Bluff County Attorney Derek Weimer says Dittbenner apparently shot himself.

Utah Child Rapist Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Possibility of Parole

A St. George, Utah man was recently sentenced to life in prison without parole. Marc Clifton Bryant was convicted of the heinous crime of rape and torture of a 16 year old girl with a screwdriver and a blow torch.

After being charged, Bryant fled to Florida and did not appear at his April 2008 trial.

He was arrested in September at a Golden Corral restaurant in Jacksonville, Fla., after appearing on "America's Most Wanted" TV program.

A letter from the victim detailed her struggles with memories of the incident. Her struggles include nightmares, distrust of people and, when she becomes overwhelmed, she seeks shelter in a closet.

"You can see the scars on my face, and I will always have them on the inside," the victim wrote.

The children's welfare charity said it was "shocking" that so many serious crimes, including rape, gross indecency and incest, were committed against girls and boys under 18.

In almost one in four of the cases recorded by police forces across the country, the victims were 10 or younger, while 800 involved pre-school children.

The data show almost 40 per cent of the total recorded sexual offences were committed against children, with 20,758 sex crimes in which the victim was under 18. There were six times as many crimes involving girls than boys.

Almost one in four (4,984) involved under-10s, while more than a third (7,622) involved teenagers between 13 and 15 years old.

In more than 800 cases the victim was aged under four, and 163 offences were recorded involving infants aged one or two.

Lawmakers consider implanted chips for tracking sex offenders

Lawmakers are considering a controversial bill that would outfit sex offenders with a surgically-implanted device that tracks their movement.

The devices would replace the ankle bracelets that are currently used to track offenders. The bracelets have been criticized as a lacking device as offenders have successfully removed them in the past before disappearing off of the radar.

"(The devices would) be a little more difficult to take off," said Rep. Maralyn Chase, D-Edmonds.

Similar technology is used to track criminals in the U.K.

Police Investigate Possible Serial Child Molester

Johnstown Police are investigating a man who they say is a serial child molester. Police say he has admitted to assaulting numerous children in the Johnstown area.

Police are talking to three potential victims, but they told WJAC that a lot more could be out there.

According to police, a home on Somerset Street is where 33-year-old Mark Kinkead raped a male family member from 1990 to 1996. The family member was 8 years old when the assault allegedly started.

Police said some of the rapes took place at the church next door as well.
Later, two foster children came to live in the home and they are now claiming that Kinkead molested them from 1999 to 2000. The two brothers were 8 and 12 at the time.

Police said Kinkead's mother fostered several other children over the years. It's not known if any of them were also assaulted.

Investigators first learned about this case when Kinkead admitted to a counselor that he sexually assaulted numerous kids around the area for years, and that he wanted to take responsibility and stop himself from doing it again.

Jasper deputies arrest sex offender trolling for victims

For the past week or more, residents of Jasper County had noticed advertisements posted at various places throughout the county offering babysitting services for $12 per weekend — but the ads solicited the babysitting services for “Females only” and requested their ages be “11 months thru 9 years".

The ads also caught the attention of investigators with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, who discovered the man posting the bulletins across the county was Thomas Louis Van-Hook, a convicted sex offender, who has victimized, at least, three female children in the past. But because Van-Hoot was off parole, had completed his sentencing requirements and had no stipulations to stay away from children, law enforcement officials were having a difficult time trying to find a way to charge him with a crime.

“We know where he is and we are waiting on a judge to sign the warrant,” Scott Duncan, a Jasper County Sheriff’s Department investigator told The Examiner on Friday.

The Examiner was told by a law enforcement source on Friday that a 2-year-old child may be Van-Hook’s latest victim.

“From what I was told they began investigating this after a little girl was left with him,” said The Examiner’s source. “Because she is so young she can’t make an outcry and unless he injured her the exam isn’t going to reveal anything.

“He is out there actively trolling for fresh victims. And because he has served his time, I am not sure what we can do about it until he victimizes another child. This guy is a sick bastard.”

The Examiner also obtained a copy of a letter that Van-Hook wrote in 2004 to the Procter & Gamble Company, the makers of Pampers Diapers, where he requested that the company do more to show the genital areas of children. The head of corporate security for Procter & Gamble sent the letter to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.

A man convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl at knifepoint in her bedroom two years ago will spend at least 60 years in prison.

Peter Jacob Inouye, 26, was found guilty of three counts of first-degree rape while armed with a deadly weapon, one count of first-degree burglary while armed with a deadly weapon with sexual motivation, and one count of second-degree assault of a child while armed with a deadly weapon with sexual motivation.

“I was just a child and he took away my innocence in just 20 minutes,” the victim, now 13, told the judge at sentencing. She also blasted Inouye for not taking the stand during his trial.

The sentences for all five counts will be served consecutively, so the earliest Inouye could be paroled is in 60 years.

The judge said the reason for the exceptionally long sentence was because the child was raped three times during the Feb, 5, 2007 incident, so the judge sentenced Inouye on all three rapes.

Inouye was initially identified as a person of interest after detectives learned he had been at the victim's home for an event to help the girl’s family after her father died.

Texas Attorney General Urges Parents To Protect Children From Savvy Predators

A recent increase in young cell phone users has the Texas Attorney General urging parents to protect their children from savvy predators.

Cell phones can be very convenient for parents to keep in touch with their kids during after school activities. But because of this increase in use, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott believes more needs to be done to protect children who use cell phones.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Tuesday encouraged parents to utilize tools that can help protect young mobile telephone users from harmful content and child predators. Abbott says by implementing parental controls and learning more about the potential dangers facing cell phone users, well-informed parents can help keep their children safe.

Because of these kinds of predators, Abbott recently urged the Legislature to update Texas' sex offender registration laws. If enacted, the Attorney General's proposal would require sex offenders to register their email addresses, mobile telephone numbers, social networking aliases and other electronic identification information.

Kanka said raising her other two children, Jeremy and Jessica, became a hard lesson in how little control parents can have over children's actions.

"Those rose-colored glasses come off and you see things differently," she said.

Teaching her son about who in the neighborhood was safe made Kanka aware of the mixed signals children receive every day. Getting candy from grandpa can make an elderly man's offer in the grocery store less threatening to a child.

Melissa Buonocore, another township parent who came to the presentation, said the idea had never struck her before.

"I never really thought about all the mixed signals," she said. "It has to stop."

Kanka emphasized the importance of teaching children about private body parts without shame and to educate them about inappropriate touching.

"As silly as it sounds, you're setting a basis for them on what is good touching and what is bad touching," she said.

Keeping information as specific as possible can only help, according to Kanka.

Lopatcong PTA Vice President Karen Kosar said she was motivated to invite Kanka to speak because of what seems like a constant surge of sexual crimes in the news.

I suppose Brandon probably doesn't have to worry about hiding anything, at least not financially; You see, the online web-based company that employs him is none other than Amazon.com, as in pedophile-books-for-sale-amazon.com.

We last highlighted Amazon's sale of books promoting pedophilia back in February 2007; Where Amazon was (and still does) sell the book of pedophile activist, Viamund the Rake, next to other pro-pedophile books such as "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers" or "Daddy's Little Boy," titles that you'd expect to find advertised in a NAMBLA Bulletin, rather than on a website which also markets books for children.

We weren't the first to pick up on Amazons sale of books promoting child abuse, you can read more about that here. And more recently Concerned Women for America has caused a stir regarding Amazons planned sale of the DVD "Hounddog," a movie which features scenes where a child is raped.

What's also interesting to note, is the case of Michael Williams, who was convicted in a Florida federal court for promoting child pornography on the Internet.

As part of a 2004 sting operation, an undercover Secret Service agent (using the screen name "Lisa--n--Miami") communicated with Williams in an Internet chat room. Williams allegedly wrote, "Dad of toddler has 'good' pics of her an (sic) me for swap of your toddler pics, or live cam." He posted nonpornographic photos of a young girl and claimed he had "hc," or hard-core, kiddie pictures, prosecutors contend.

A coalition of free speech and commercial interests were supporting Williams' constitutional claims, including the Free Speech Coalition, online media retailer Amazon.com and National Coalition Against Censorship.

Frighteningly, in Amazon.com's zeal to support Williams, they went so far as to ask the court "to overturn the law, saying it would restrict protected speech and allow for prosecution even if actual child pornography did not exist."

But Scalia methodically dismissed each of the hypotheticals raised by challengers and the appeals court, including whether movies that purported to show underage sex -- or even advertisements for such movies -- would violate the law. "We think it implausible that a reputable distributor of Hollywood movies, such as Amazon.com, believes that one of these films contains actual children engaging in actual or simulated sex on camera; and even more implausible that Amazon.com would intend to make its customers believe such a thing," he wrote.

What exactly is Amazon.com's vested interest in child pornography? Why are they so concerned about their right to distribute it?

Warning over kids' holiday photos on internet

EXPERTS ARE warning parents not to put holiday snaps of their children online because they could end up in a child porn collection.

NetSafe spokesperson Lee Chisholm says authorities have found holiday photographs of children, pulled off the internet, in collections of child abuse images.

And Auckland psychologist Nathan Gaunt, an expert in online sex abuse and pornography, says some men who view child abuse images are actively trawling the internet for "child-next-door images".

"There has definitely been huge interest in `normal' images of children," Gault says. "There are people out there who do have an interest in school websites, or holiday snaps. These pictures are very real to people, so of course people who have a sexual interest in images of children find that quite interesting," he says.

He says some men will conjure up fantasies around a picture of a child, while others will find a text-based story on the internet, then go looking for a picture to match: "say, a red-headed eight-year-old".

Others, who have collections of images of a particular child being abused, will search for lookalike children on the internet to add to the fantasy.

New Law Monitors Sex Offenders On-Line

The New Year brings tougher restrictions for Georgia’s sex offenders. All 16,000 of them will have to hand over their internet passwords, screen names and e-mail addresses starting tomorrow. The new law is a big hit with some.

Michelle Rogers: “I think its great to protect young people. I work with high school and middle school students all the time and I know the internet is kind of their world a lot of times and anything that we can do to further their safety online I think is a good thing.”

Georgia joins a small band of states complying with guidelines in a 2006 federal law requiring authorities to track internet addresses of sex offenders. But the state is among the first to take the extra step of forcing its 16-thousand offenders to turn in their passwords as well.

DVD sales of 'Hounddog' a concern

A campaign is under way against sales of the DVD of the movie Hounddog.

Child star Dakota Fanning is in the film, which many family advocates have said is not suitable for children -- or for adults. Donna Miller, who serves as a chapter leader with Concerned Women for America of North Carolina and heads up the "No More Child Porn" campaign, agrees.

"Parents need to know that it's an R-rated movie," she states. "There is a graphic child rape scene. Also there are several sexual situations with Dakota Fanning's character."

Miller explains why the film is not even acceptable for adults. "A former molester contacted me and told me that this type of movie was very dangerous for people with a perverted sexual habit," she shares.

"Right now, Amazon.com has it on their website for pre-ordering. That's my concern initially," says Miller.

Ex-NFL Player Arrested on Rape Charges

Former New England Patriots player and high school football coach Danny Villa surrendered to police in his native Arizona on Saturday, one day after a court in Massachusetts issued a warrant for his arrest on charges that he raped a child.

He faces three counts of rape of a child over 14 and three counts of enticing a minor.

The 44-year-old Villa had been working as a football coach at Walpole High School. He resigned Tuesday, hours after the school superintendent confronted him over allegations of criminal misconduct filed by a parent a day earlier.

No jail sentence in child porn case

Dante Dimidio could have faced 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

But an Adams County judge on Monday imposed a sentence with no jail time, saying he was convinced Dimidio has taken responsibility for the crime of which he was convicted and the problems behind it.

What? A slap on the hand? Because he took responsibility? Another injustice by a Judge.

According to court documents, Dimidio's roommate told college officials that Dimidio had downloaded pornographic images of girls ages 12 through 14.

State police seized his computer and CDs in May. He had more than 4,000 images of child pornography.

A convicted sex offender is back in Sullivan County Jail after anonymous complaints led to new charges that he engaged in sex acts with young acquaintances, the sheriff's office said.

Anthony LaMantia, 56, of Liberty, is charged with sexually forcing himself upon a young boy and girl. The alleged acts happened between 1998 and 2001, and started when the kids were only 10 years old. LaMantia has been charged with two counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse against a child, all felonies. He was sent to jail without bail.

A 25-year-old convicted sex offender pleaded guilty in Circuit Court yesterday to raping three boys under the age of 14.

Kaulana Futoshi Hirakawa, sentenced last week to more than 21 years in federal prison for taking a picture of a nude 8-year-old boy and posting it online, admitted raping that boy who was then 10, and two other boys who were 6 and 13. The assaults occurred in 2003, 2006 and 2007.

The former Disney Store salesclerk appeared in Judge Richard Pollack's courtroom in shackles. He pleaded guilty to nine counts: five counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of third-degree sexual assault, and one count of first-degree promoting child abuse.

Missouri sheriff raises funds for program to teach youngsters how to escape sex offenders

Each time legislators pass more restrictions on sex offenders, critics insist that laws alone can’t keep children safe.
Education is key, they said. Teach children how to avoid being a victim, and educate parents on the dangers.
A sheriff in central Missouri agreed with that philosophy and said he wanted to bring that training to his county. Problem was, he couldn’t afford it.
So Morgan County Sheriff Jim Petty, a career lawman, became a money pitchman of sorts, asking people to spare a dollar. Pretty soon word spread, and the juvenile division of the 26th Judicial Circuit had the funds he needed to pay for radKIDS — Resist Aggression Defensibly, a national education program that teaches kids to fight back against people trying to hurt them.
The juvenile division and the sheriff’s department will start training next year.
“Honestly, I don’t like asking people for money, but I’m passionate for this program,” Petty said.
Others in law enforcement understand the need for teaching kids how to protect themselves and convincing them that it’s OK to tell people if someone hurts them.
“They are the first line of defense for themselves,” said Sgt. Gary Kilgore, who supervises the Jackson County sex offender registry. “We need to make sure they know what they can and cannot do. That’s crucial in their safety. … Education is about the only way to get that to them.”
RadKIDS has been taught in all but a few states, officials with the program said. Trained instructors aren’t in Kansas City and in Kansas, though organizers hope to change that.
The idea is to teach elementary school children how to respond if they’re abducted or sexually attacked, or if they are bullied.
“We don’t teach children how to fight,” said Stephen Daley, founder and executive director of the nonprofit radKIDS. “We teach them to escape when someone is fighting them.”
After seeing a presentation about the program at a national conference, Petty and one of his deputies were instant believers. They remember a 9-year-old girl who fought her would-be abductor and got away.
Morgan County Deputy Mike Nienhuis, who will receive the training, said he liked how the program made kids stronger.
“The molester is never going to quit,” Nienhuis said. “You can make 50 million laws against this and it’s still going to happen. You have to educate potential victims so they know how to get out of it.”
Departments or organizations that purchase the program pay for people to be trained. In Morgan County’s case, program officials will train 20 people who then will take the message to kids.
Though the cases of strangers abducting and abusing youngsters are relatively few, many children are hurt by people they know. Petty and Nienhuis said radKIDS would give kids the strength and knowledge to handle those situations.
“You’re going to show them straight out of the chute to say no when they want to say no,” Nienhuis said. “We’ll tell them they have the power to say no.”
Petty just won re-election and now can focus on spreading the word about radKIDS.
“If I don’t do anything else as sheriff in the next four years, if I can help kids and get this program running, that’ll be a success,” Petty said.

Sex Offender Allegedly Attempts To Grab Child Off Porch

Dayton police said Kim Abney, 52, is accused of trying to grab a 9-year-old girl off her front porch last week. The girl's family shares a duplex with Abney on McLain Street.

The child's mother, Kathleen Washabaugh, said she ran outside when she heard her daughter screaming.

Police said Abney tried pulling the child over the wall that divides the duplex's porch. They said their initial investigation showed that Abney also may have licked the girl's face.

Molester given 99 years in prison

A judge sentenced an Anderson man to nearly 100 years behind bars for repeatedly molesting a girl earlier this year.

Madison Circuit Judge Fredrick Spencer sentenced Lawrence E. Auler to 99 years in prison — one year short of the maximum — after Auler pleaded guilty to two Class A counts of child molestation involving a 6-year-old girl.

Deputy Prosecutor Pat Ragains sought the maximum against 45-year-old Auler due to the extreme nature of the crimes.

“He shouldn’t get out of prison, your honor,” Ragains said. “He shouldn’t ever get out of prison.”

Auler blamed the incidents on the girl.

Girl's Santa Letter Leads to Man's Arrest

PHARR, Texas (Dec. 15) - A Texas man has been arrested after a 9-year-old girl wrote to Santa Claus asking that a relative stop touching her and her sister.

The Monitor of McAllen reports that Andres Enrique Cantu, from the town of Pharr, was arrested Friday and is in the Hidalgo County jail.

A criminal complaint says the girl turned the letter in at Cesar Chavez Elementary School. Authorities interviewed the girl after a school counselor reported the letter.

The complaint says investigators believe the molestation occurred over a period of four years.

Cantu is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child and could face as many as 99 years in prison if convicted.

No Child Molester Has Ever Been Cured

Therapy does not change a person’s sexual proclivities - otherwise one would be able to change homosexuality.

I turned to a renowned criminal profiler from the American Violent Crimes Institute, Dr. Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, to comment on the Toronto-based psychotherapist’s statements.

- What I see are the offenders who do act on their desires. You have to remember that those who are sexually attracted to children have a deviant compulsion. I have been studying sex crimes for 2 decades and working with police here in the United States on thousands of cases, and almost exclusively, if an adult is using child pornography, he is on the way to becoming an offender – the profiler said.

- Another thing about pornography is that people who are addicted to it are trying to get emotional needs met that cannot be met in that way; so many of them escalate, looking for more varied and extreme types of pornography. An addictive process is a vicious circle with the motto: "if it's not working, do it more"--which sometimes means more recklessly. Under present-day laws, people who watch child pornography are endangering themselves.

- They are not content to just look. They are always trying to get more to feed their fantasies. After a while, the photos are just not enough, and they begin going out and stalking children. All of the child molestation cases I have worked started in the offenders’ childhoods where they found themselves attracted to other children. This attraction never left them, so when they grew up, they secretly searched for child pornography. After that, they became molesters.

- And that is just what it is: a compulsion. Well functioning adults are aroused by adults, not children. This is not normal and bound to create a great deal of emotional difficulty for the person experiencing the deviant desires – profiler Schurman-Kauflin told Javno.

- In nearly all of the cases that I have worked with psychotherapy has been successful. I help the client to make lifestyle changes and build better relationships. For some it is fairly quick and easy, but others have a lot to learn about how to have good relationships, and that takes longer – psychotherapist Beth Mares maintains.

- I have never seen a case where a child molester was cured. Therapy does not change a person’s sexual proclivities-otherwise one would be able to change homosexuality. And we all know that homosexuality is not something that can be changed. I would venture to say that if an individual is sexually aroused by child pornography, that person would not be above hiding it. I would not believe one word from the mouth of a person who masturbates while watching children.

Sex Offender Found With Missing Teen

A teen missing for more than three years has been found and a registered as a sex offender is arrested Monday night.

Jerry Wayne Dunn is at the Johnson City Medical Center being treated for cuts to his wrist he tried to commit suicide in his cell on Sunday.

The teen is in the juvenile detention center awaiting a court hearing Tuesday morning for his previous runaway charge. Other than that, the sheriff says he seemed to be taken care of well, but he’s certain he’ll need counseling.

“I’ve just been awfully worried about him and I didn’t know what had ever happened to him,“ said Lena Greer, missing teen’s grandmother.

Child rapist gets 100+ years

The punishment for raping five young girls: a prison term of 129-189 years.

That sentence is what Kenneth Ashcraft deserves, one of his victims said.

"Mr. Ashcraft has stolen all of our innocence from us. ... We all were scared to tell what happened," a 16-year-old Middletown girl told Judge Noah Powers in Butler County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.

The Middletown girl said Ashcraft, 41, of New Miami, needed a life sentence to give him "enough time to think about what he did to all of us." Her statement brought some courtroom spectators to tears.

But Ashcraft showed no emotion. He also said nothing on his own behalf, even after the judge gave him two chances.

"The court cannot help but be persuaded by the fact that the defendant preyed on child victims," the judge said.

When Ashcraft took the stand during his October trial, Ashcraft claimed the young women who testified against him were liars, Powers noted.

"What he did was wrong and he won't do it to another innocent little girl," the 16-year-old Middletown girl said after court.

A convicted sex offender accused of photographing children while they trick-or-treated in the city of Waupun on Halloween faces three felony charges.

Edward R. Lieber, 36, 127 1/2 S. Madison St., Waupun, was released on a signature bond after making his initial court appearance Monday on three counts of photographing children without consent as a registered sex offender. He could face a maximum 10 1/2 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

According to the criminal complaint, Waupun Police were tipped-off when a woman reported that Lieber had photographed her 4-year-old daughter without permission while she walked through a Halloween display outside his home on the evening of Oct. 31.

“There’s honestly something not right that you’re able to live in our community and violate these rules so openly,” Bolgert said.

Peter Petrosky Sr., was sentenced in Washoe County to two consecutive life terms with the possibility of parole after 20 years after Washoe County Sheriff's investigated the suspect for several months.

Throughout the course of their investigation, Washoe County Sheriff's against Children Detectives says Petrosky spent several months grooming young boys, lavishing them with gifts and other items in order to molest them.

Petrosky's sentence was handed down by Judge Jerome Polaha after he plead guilty to two counts of lewdness with a child under 14.

The feelings of Vincent Bernard Jones’ victims were attached by a paperclip.

They had plenty to say on paper. Jones, sentenced Wednesday to four concurrent life sentences for sex-related charges, didn’t.

“You’re a nasty, sick pervert and much more,” said one 17-year-old victim. “There is no words really to explain what you are ever since you touched me with your filthy hands ... and when you die in prison, I hope you rot in hell.”

Jones, 44, was convicted Oct. 29 of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and incest. Jurors in the one-day trial decided that Jones inappropriately touched a relative in the summer of 2007. The acts occurred in several places across Russell County but more than once at a Sandfort Road home.

“You kept promising me you would leave me alone, but you didn’t,” said another 17-year-old girl, a relative of Jones’. “You hurt me physically and emotionally. Don’t nobody know how I feel unless they have been through what I’ve been through.”

Sun Valley child molester gets six life prison terms

A Sun Valley man was sentenced last week to six life sentences for a series of child molestations.

Washoe District Judge Janet Berry imposed the sentence Nov. 25 on Luis Reyes-Marquez, 44.

A jury found him guilty in June of two counts of sexual assault on a child and four counts of lewdness with a child younger than 14.

Reyes must serve at least 80 years.

Decatur County Deputies surrounded a residence at 1119 Old Pelham Road and took 52 year old William Lester Johnson of Climax into custody.

He was charged for the molestation of a 6 year old child. Sheriff's Investigator Brian Donalson stated the molestation occurred sometime over the last several months.

Johnson is a registered sex offender who was convicted in 1996 in Calhoun County for the molestation of an 8 year old. He was released in July of 2005 after serving a 10 year sentence.

Fostoria man given life sentence for 2006 child rape

A Fostoria man has been sentenced to life in prison for raping a 5-year-old girl in 2006.
29-year-old Paul Stacey was convicted of the rape Thursday by a Seneca County Common Pleas Court jury. The jury deliberated for two hours before returning a verdict.
Stacey had been baby-sitting the girl when the rape occurred at his residence on September 22, 2006.
DNA taken from the girl's clothes and from a swab taken during a pediatric sexual assault examination the day of the assault matched Stacey's profile.
Stacey received a mandatory life sentence for raping a child under 10 years of age. Under Ohio law, he will be eligible for parole after serving 10 years in prison.

In Wednesday's ruling, the San Jose-based 6th District Court of Appeal rejected Schwartzmiller's arguments that his trial was marred by legal errors and that his sentence was excessive. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Edward Lee imposed the sentence on the 65-year-old Schwartzmiller in January 2007, after a jury had convicted him of 10 counts of child molestation, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of taking a picture of a minor in a sexual position.

"We note there was an abundance of evidence of appellant's guilt, and we are satisfied from an examination of the entire record that there was no miscarriage of justice,'' the unanimous three-justice panel wrote.

Schwartzmiller, who police believe may have molested as many as 300 young boys around the country, had previously been convicted at least nine times in various states. Schwartzmiller became a jailhouse lawyer during many of those prison stays, succeeding in overturning four convictions in appeals he wrote while locked up.

Man charged with sex assault of teen

A Fairfield man who just got out of prison two months ago was arrested on sexual assault charges after he allegedly attacked a 16-year old girl on her way home from school.

Eric Julian, 26, was on probation after serving five years in prison when the alleged incident happened in the Jennings Road area on November 14.

Police say Julian grabbed the girl by the neck and dragged her into a back yard. The girl screamed and managed to get away.

Julian has been charged with third degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Grant Helps Put Sexual Predators Behind Bars

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is getting some help combating child sexual predators.

They have just been given a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The grant will help fund the Internet Crimes Against Children task force for its efforts to protect children and put sexual predators behind bars.
Minnesota and Ohio were the only two states that received the full $500,000 grant award.

The money will be used to increase forensic evidence capacity, monitor offenders on parole and probation, and expand the task force's partnerships in Minnesota.

Gingell was convicted in 1981 for three counts of rape of an 8-year-old girl. He spent 23 years in Ohio’s prisons before being paroled in 2004. He was arrested in 2006 after police found a knife in his car, but was quickly released.

Gingell was arrested again six months ago, charged with not reporting his address as many sexual offenders are required by law to do. As a result, he was required to undergo a mental evaluation.

After reading the evaluation, Judge Melba Marsh was so scared she decided to personally look into Gingell’s past.

He was diagnosed with pseudological fastastica, a disorder that results in Gingell telling lies even if the truth is better for him. That’s a horrifying diagnosis for someone convicted of sex crimes the authorities want to keep an eye on, the judge said.

Marsh suggested Gingell and others like him were so dangerous they should be forced to wear a cowbell around their neck “so everybody knows where you are.”

Helping Children Stay Safe

With 10 grandchildren of her own, 67-year-old Fran Doll is convinced that no one is more passionate about helping kids than a grandparent. That's why she calls upon local grandparents near her home in Akron, Ohio, to work as volunteers at her nonprofit organization, Grandparents Against Sex Predators, which she founded in 2006.

"It's really unfathomable to me that children are at risk for such terrible crimes, and I wanted to do something to help, even if I just made a small impact," says Ms. Doll, who got the idea to start GASP after hearing about the case of Jessica Lundsford, a 9-year-old Florida girl who was raped and murdered by a convicted sex offender in 2005. "When I looked at my own precious grandchildren, I just kept thinking of that poor girl and I was shocked, sad and enraged."

Ms. Doll started GASP after retiring from a busy career working in administrative positions and then running a successful temporary-staffing company, all while raising six kids -- two of her own and four stepchildren. GASP works with local law-enforcement agencies to train grandparents and other volunteers how to recognize signs of potential sexual abuse and help search for missing children. GASP volunteers also watch for and report any suspicious activity in the community, fingerprint children, and conduct community education programs to teach children, educators and parents about sexual-abuse awareness and prevention.

She spends 30 to 40 hours a week directing activities and fund raising at GASP, which today has a board of directors, several special committees and more than 150 specially trained citizen volunteers. The group has fingerprinted more than 2,000 children and will soon open its doors in Alabama and other states. As far as how long she'll run GASP, Ms. Doll doesn't have a specific date in mind, but she does want to turn the day-to-day leadership of the organization over to a younger person in a few years' time.

A Kokomo man arrested last December on 10 felony counts of child molest was sentenced Friday to 90 years in prison in Miami Superior Court.

Miami County deputies arrested Joshua M. Upton, 26, on Dec. 12, accusing him of molesting two young boys he was baby-sitting, according to the sheriff department.

Police also allege Upton has been downloading child pornography on a computer inside a trailer in Maple Lawn Mobile Home Park on U.S. 31, north of Kokomo.

A 51-year-old Chehalis man who was convicted of being a child molester has been sentenced to nearly 50 years in prison.

A jury found Dobyns guilty of three counts of first-degree rape of a child, two counts of first-degree child molestation and five counts of rape of a child in the second degree.

Dobyns was arrested in 2006 after a 16-year-old girl said Dobyns molested her when she was between the ages of nine and 12. Police said Dobyns was a Tae Kwon Do teacher who had instructed the girl before developing a relationship with her mother and moving in with the family.

Chris J. Landry, 31, of Keister Road, was indicted May 7, on two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition involving the 8-year-old child and a 10-year-old girl.

"There isn't enough punishment for a man who puts his hands on innocent little children," said Prosecutor Robin Piper in a news release. "In coming forward with their truth, these heroic little girls prevented others from becoming victims. For the damage and hardship he has caused, Landry deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison."

Silvino Torrez was convicted last month of one count of a forcible lewd act on a child and nine counts of committing lewd acts on a child. He was sentenced Thursday in Long Beach Superior Court

Prosecutor Bob Hight says the 56-year-old Torrez sexually abused four girls ages 5 to 9 over a 10-year period beginning in 1997. The victims were relatives and friends.

A Hamilton Township man will spent the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him on rape charges.

47-year-old James Cappadonia was convicted on two counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Prosecutors say Cappadonia raped and inappropriately touched a nine-year-old girl.

Cappadonia has been on trial in Warren County for the past three days.

The jury returned a verdict in just three hours Wednesday.

The rape conviction carries a mandatory life sentence in prison.

An autopsy confirmed that Nicole had been choked to death and there had been attempted sexual assaults both before and after her death, the Item reported.

That new survey, published to coincide with IWF Awareness day, also reveals the truly shocking statistic that 80 percent of the children featured in these sickening images accessed by the IWF are under 10.

33 percent are under 3, and 10 percent are under 2.

Such figures make you appreciate why the Internet Watch Foundation itself does not refer to these collectively as being child pornography or kiddie porn, as it insists that these terms just serve to legitimise images which are not pornography.

Instead, it says that they are actually permanent records of children being sexually abused and as such should be referred to as 'child sexual abuse images.' To be honest, semantics and language aside, it does not matter what you call them: this is a sickening and evil trade that needs to be policed and prevented.

Authorities Say They Nabbed More Than 500 Suspects as Part of the 3-Day Raids

Children across the country are being forced into prostitution in alarming numbers, according to federal and local authorities who recently completed a series of raids.

In the last three days, the FBI and police from 29 cities rescued 47 children from 73 alleged pimps and more than 500 others who authorities say sought to exploit them. Among those children saved: a 12-year-old from Texas; a 13-year-old from Ohio; and a 14-year-old from Michigan.

"This is organized crime, these people are moving kids from city to city," said Ernie Allen, president and CEO of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. "They are involved in 21st century slavery. ? This is a problem that is happening on Main Street USA."

They are stickers that are becoming more and more popular on the back end of vehicles owned by families, and police say those stickers could be putting families at risk.

You've probably seen those little stick-figures on the back of cars representing a dad, mom and however many kids may be in that family. Police say this could be very helpful to a pedophile.

"Now you add in there the bumper sticker, where your child goes to school. They now have a geographical area of where you live, based on that single bumper sticker," says Sgt. Mark Marino of the Gilbert, AZ Police Department.

Police say many more of those stick-figure families are including the names of children and that makes matters worse. A criminal could have the first name of a young child, making it possible for that criminal to approach the child.

Sexual predator faces life sentence thanks to "brave girl"

A 50-year-old Bristol man who was convicted earlier this month on three counts of using his computer to sexually exploit children, is facing a sentence of life in prison.

John E, Hargrove, under the screen names "sun warrior48" and "master_4younger_f_slave," used instant messaging from his computer to lure four different minor females into chats in late 2006 and early 2007, according to documents revealed in U.S. District Court.

Evidence revealed in the three-day trial that ended Oct. 3 showed that Hargrove approached the victims after viewing their profile pages on MySpace. Of the four girls, two were actual teenage females and two were undercover law enforcement officers.

Evidence was presented at trial that Hargrove used the Internet to transfer images of child pornography. The photos were of a teen with whom he had an online relationship. The 15-year-old testified at the trial.

"In this case, a very brave girl took the stand to testify against the defendant and proved that victims will stand up for themselves and their rights," said Sharon L. Potter, U.S. attorney for the district, who oversaw the prosecution.

Sex offender convicted of soliciting kidnapping

A sex offender has been found guilty of soliciting someone to kidnap the mother of one of his victims to get the child to recant his testimony.

Forty-nine-year-old David A. Day of Richfield was sentenced in January 2006 to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting the 12-year-old boy.

A Washington County jury took less than an hour Thursday to convict him of trying to hire someone to kidnap the boy's mother and kill her unless the child and his father convinced a judge they had lied. It's the second time Day has been convicted of trying to get someone to silence the boy.

In March, he was sentenced in Dodge County to 24 years in prison for trying to hire another inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution to kidnap and kill the boy and his four siblings.

Perhaps our Supreme Court needs to rethink their decision not to allow child rape a capital crime?

Halloween to be Dark Day for Sex Offenders

500 Children Names Found In Porn Suspect's Room

A man was caught in a dumpster with child porn.

Now, his case could impact hundreds of young girls. Racine police were looking for a thief near Dr. Jones Elementary School in Racine, when they found Steven Marcsis, Jr. hiding in a dumpster. When police found him, Marcsis had a camera and lewd pictures

Police seized Marcsis’ computer which Marcsis admitted had some 200 illegal pictures of young girls on it.

They also found a list with 500 names, birthdates and addresses of girls.

Those girls and their parents could be getting a surprise letter in the mail Tuesday.
